Queen’s Bush Pub
When a client takes a historic brick house on a busy downtown street and renovates it into a traditional English pub, the landscape design needs to reflect not only the vision of the owner, but the uniqueness of the site. The goal for this design was to create an eye catching and simple design that would feature an outdoor patio for casual dining. The focal point of the design is the seasonal ornamental grass hedge that masks the outdoor patio from the street and creates what the locals call their ‘oasis’.
The entire site is filled with plantings of mixed perennials, shrubs, and flowering trees that show interest throughout the year. The massed plantings have made the restaurant stand out on the downtown street. The design both complements the historic building and provides diners with an intimate and quiet patio experience.
